Police vetting

BOPSCA is committed to ensuring that discrimination, harassment, child abuse and other forms of inappropriate behaviour are never a part of our sporting community. In line with best practice, the BOPSCA committee passed a motion in 2024 to work towards all adults on overnight trips being police vetted.

From 2025, BOPSCA is now an approved agency for police vetting.

  • We consider all adults attending overnight trips to be Volunteer helpers.

  • All such helpers need to be vetted as the trips will have minors attending.

  • Vetting costs $8.50 per adult.

  • BOPSCA will receive no information about the applicant's conviction history. We simply receive notification of a ‘clean slate’ or otherwise. If your application returns a result other than a ‘clean slate’, the Police will deem whether your record disallows you to attend. BOPSCA will not make a judgement call on this.

  • You can read police information about the vetting process here.

Process

  • Please download this application form

  • Complete Section 2, and ensure you save it. This support document has more info, and will help if you have questions.

  • Email it back to bopsca17@gmail.com with the two forms of ID required - outlined below.

  • Alternatively, or if you are not personally known to a BOPSCA committee member, you will need to provide your ID in person. Please email to arrange a time, or catch Nada at the gym or wall.

  • A digital copy of the form will be kept in line with the BOPSCA Privacy Policy. Copies of ID will not be kept on file.

  • Nada, or another approved committee member will submit the completed document to the Police Vetting service.

  • It takes about 20 days for BOPSCA to receive the result.

  • (Currently, it is only Nada has been approved for this. Over time, we hope to extend this.)
