Speed climbing
A 15 meter wall on a 5 degree overhang with a standardised route. A speed climber can expect the same wall, no matter where in the world they compete. This standardisation means a climber can work on perfecting every single move to make it up the top as fast as they possibly can.
In 2019, BOPSCA fundraised and built this wall and therefore enabled the club to become the experts when it comes to all things speed climbing. We want this wall to be an asset to the whole community, so here you will be able to find all things related to accessing the speed wall.

Because the wall is an outdoor facility, it is hard to commit to times in advance. It’s also run by a small bunch of enthusiastic parents and climbers - we do our best, but again… hard to stick to committed times!
On nice days, in Spring and Summer, we run a super fun, Fast Fridays session - from 4pm to 6pm. Climbing from 4, and a social comp around 5pm.Otherwise, keep a watch on our Facebook page for more opportunities, and for weather calls made.

Coach, Rob Moore, keeps an eagle eye on climbers who turn up, turn up again, show enthusiasm and speediness, and keep turning up.
The programme is invite-only, and most kids get invoveld around 11-13 yo.

No one goes up the wall without shoes and a harness! So if you have them, bring them.
But we also have some spares, so don’t let it stop you if you don’t! -
It’s very (very!) unlikely that something will go wrong, but if something does go wrong and you fall from a height, that would be very bad.
We have a robust health & safety plan in place, and take it seriously. There is always someone on sight who is certified to open and manage the wall.

Open to the public
We regularly open the speed wall to the public. Usually it will be over a weekend or pre competitions. This is a fun opportunity to have a get on the wall and have a picnic with the whole family!

At times it might be possible to book the wall for an event, club trips, or corporate team building .
